Whilst filming his award winning documentary “Humpbacks from Fire to Ice” Ross spent six seasons off Maui, Hawaii and in the Inside Passage, South East Alaska capturing the natural history of the humpback whales which migrate between those locations. Working with the Hawaii Whale Research Foundation HWRF on a special NOAA permit, he was able to swim with the whales and dolphins and record some extraordinary footage of these wonderful animals. Often large groups of inquisitive dolphins were filmed swimming in deep water surrounding Maui. These waters team with large numbers of whales and dolphins which are often associated with each other.
