Above- #42 Title- “Pseudorcas Swim Close” 1 of 500

Whilst filming his award winning documentary “Humpbacks from Fire to Ice” Ross spent six seasons off Maui, Hawaii and in the Inside Passage, South East Alaska capturing the natural history of the humpback whales which migrate between those locations. Working with the Hawaii Whale Research Foundation HWRF on a special NOAA permit, he was able to swim with the whales and record some extraordinary footage of these wonderful animals. The waters surrounding Maui are populated by many species of marine mammals including the Pseudorcas also known as False Killer Whales. They hunt in packs chasing down their food species such as Mahi Mahi.
