Above #20 Title- “Humpback Mother & Calf with Dolphins” 1 of 500
Whilst filming his award winning documentary “Humpbacks from Fire to Ice” Ross spent six seasons off Maui, Hawaii and in the Inside Passage, South East Alaska capturing the natural history of the humpback whales which migrate between those locations. Working with the Hawaii Whale Research Foundation HWRF on a special NOAA permit, he was able to swim with the whales and record some extraordinary footage of these wonderful animals. Often the humpback mothers would bring their calves up to investigate the filmmaker and close interactions created some memorable moments for the cine cameras. Here a mother and calf comes up for a close encounter with a group of dolphins equally inquisitive in the background.
